Amador Montes | I am what I paint!

Amador Montes, born in 1975 is considered a rising star in the Oaxacan artistic hierarchy, in Mexico. The emphasis of his work draws from emotions and his personal life. Events from his childhood, his father narrating legends that filled his imagination with an atmosphere of indigenous and mestizo art and beauty, formed him. His initial interest lay towards painting in university although his degree was in graphic design. As he developed, his inexhaustible aesthetic research and experimenting with materials have caused a never-ending evolution of his work.
Having received and been appreciated in many parts of the world, both in private as in public galleries and institutions; his artworks can be found in honorary organizations as the United Nations, NY, Whitney Gallery, NY, The Vatican, Rome, The Hangaram Museum in Seoul, to name a few.
He lives and works in Oaxaca.

Mila+Mate's collaboration with Amador comes by the hand of Kristin from K and Arte, an Art Consultant and enthusiast, of all shapes, types and sizes. Her keen eye introduced us to the works of Amador. With her help and sensibility, we were able to bring to our beautiful fabrics some of his cherished works.
